Bubble SOS! We're Bringing Bubble to East London's Parks

This Saturday, if you're in an East London park and running low on something chilled to drink (or about to buy a plastic bottle), you can message us a 'Bubble SOS' and we'll delivered refreshing sparkling water straight to you!

CO2 YOU is running Bubble SOS this Saturday 15th August in East London parks.

Why?

We asked 2,000 Brits about litter, and the answers weren't good.

We commissioned a survey across the UK about parks, drinks and rubbish. Nearly three quarters of us said litter in parks is a problem, and plastic bottles were the single most noticed offender, spotted by six in ten people.

London came out the worst, with two-thirds saying they'd left rubbish behind outdoors - the highest figure anywhere in the country. Only 3% of people said there was no reason they left litter, but the most common reason was because of overflowing bins.

So we've decided it's time we stepped in with a lot of bubbles to help people make the right choice. We can't do much about the bins, but we can encourage you to bring a reusable bottle of sparkling water with you to the park, with bubbles from home, rather than picking up another plastic one on your way.

How to send a Bubble SOS

  1. If you're in an East London park this weekend, message us on WhatsApp
  2. Share a one-off location pin with us to help our team of Bubble Heads locate you in your park
  3. Wait for the bubbles! Quite literally. Our e-bikes will be out and about delivering chilled sparkling water whilst blowing bubbles from their roof, you can't miss them
  4. Enjoy your bubbles from our reusable bottles, and next time you're heading to the park, you can make sparkling water at home with the CO2 YOU Bubbla

Whether you enjoy chilled sparkling water or are topping up your favourite spritz, we'll be making the journey to as many park picnics as we can this Saturday!

Other findings our national survey uncovered

Sparkling water is now one of the fastest-growing things Brits take to the park. 34% say they're more likely to buy it for outdoor socialising than they were five years ago, and in London that rises to nearly half.

One in four of us still take drinks outdoors in single-use plastic bottles, but over a third now use a reusable one. Whilst reusable bottles haven't totally replaced single-use yet, they have become more widely used.

Litter isn't just an eye-sore though, London's fire service have asked people to stop leaving litter in parks after control officers handled more than 1,000 emergency calls in a single day, including over 200 calls about grass fires.

Bubble SOS WhatsApp

Does it cost anything?

Nope. Just respond to our Bubble SOS, or post an Instagram story tagging @co2yousocial for us to find you.

Is this happening outside of East London?

Not yet! This weekend we're piloting our campaign where our research found the problem to be the most well... problematic. If it works, we'd love to see this taken further afield - where we go next remains to be seen!

What do the Bubble Bikes normally do?

We deliver CO2 cylinders to households across London, driven by our expert Bubble Heads. On any weekday you could spot us delivering and collecting cylinders from any neighbourhood.
